The 2009 Decatur Garden Tour will feature 13 public and private gardens across Decatur.  From the stately and formal to the artsy and whimsical, and everything in between, the tour blooms with ideas to feed gardening inspiration all year. Works by local artists will also be displayed. Saturday evening tour will feature the Oakhurst Community Garden and a wonderful modern garden with pool.

2008 Decatur Candlelight Tour of Homes

The 26th annual Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes will feature eight, beautiful homes and four points of interest including the Clairemont Elementary Marketplace, The Village Vets, Renewal Construction and Lampe Farley Communications.  This year's theme, Living Green, focuses on homes renovated using green materials and techniques. There will be FREE shuttle bus going from home to home.  

Proceeds from the tour benefit the Decatur Youth Fund and the Decatur Preservation Alliance.  Advanced tickets are $20.00 and can purchased from merchants around Decatur.  You can also buy tickets at the door for $25.00. 

This year's tour is dedicated to the memory of Ruth Golley.  Ruth was a local volunteer and supporter of the tour.  She was also a well respected Realtor and Broker/Co-Owner of Golley Realtor Group.  Ruth will be missed in the Decatur community.

Decatur Arts Festival

The 20th annual Decatur Arts Festival is this weekend which has become a traditional Memorial Day event for lots of people.  Although there is no home tour, the festival features a huge artists market with over 140 artists so I am sure you can find something beautiful for your home.  The festival also features "Doors of Decatur" which is a community arts project where local artists, citizens and schools decorate doors.  The doors are auctioned off and the proceeds benefit the Decatur Arts Alliance.

Chicken Coop Tour?

YES!  It's a chicken coop tour throughout intown neighborhoods of Atlanta!  I read about this today in the AJC.  I didn't realize that so many people within the city limits had chickens much less a chicken coop for a tour.  The tour will feature coops in the neighborhoods of Oakhurst, Decatur, Kirkwood, Druid Hills, East Atlanta, Virginia Highland, the Old Fourth Ward and Grant Park. 

This is a must see!

Oakhurst Arts & Music Festival

The 10th Annual Oakhurst Arts & Music Festival is this Saturday at the corner of East Lake Drive and Oakview Road in Harmony Park.  The festival will feature a parade, live entertainment, children's activities, an Artists Market, food and much more!
