Celebrate May Day with a day in the country at Serenbe.  If you've read my blogs, you know that I am a BIG fan of Serenbe.  I definitely see myself living in this community some day...hopefully sooner than later.  For now, it's my retreat - every time I visit, I feel at peace.  Enough about me....

May Day festivities include tons of food from the local restaurants and farmers, children's activities including eco-educational games, pony rides, face painting and much more, local artist demonstrations, shopping at the various businesses and so much more.  Many of the houses that are for sale will be open.  For a complete schedule, go to http://www.serenbecommunity.com/calendar.html and click on the calendar entry for May Day.

Newnan Coweta Historical Society Tour of Homes

The 38th Annual Inman Park Festival and Tour of Homes is this weekend and is one of Atlanta's largest neighborhood festivals.  The Tour of Homes kicks off Friday with the majority of the festival being Saturday and Sunday.  The Tour will feature nine residences including one of Atlanta's oldest houses!  The street festival will include an Arts & Crafts Market, food, drinks, live entertainment, children's activities and the one and only Parade on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

The Atlanta Symphony Associates 2009 Decorators' Show House & Gardens opened this weekend!  The Show House features three units in the brand new St. Regis Hotel & Residences featuring contemporary, transitional and traditional design.

A Planning Guide to this Weekend's Tours

This weekend is going to be one of the busiest weekends this Spring.  There are several home tours and great festivals to attend.  I thought I would provide you with a guide so that you can attend everything.  Kick off the weekend early, by attending the Druid Hills Home & Garden Tour Friday afternoon.  The tour features several homes and gardens, an Artist Market and plant sale.  You can finish the day with a preview of the Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park - going on until 9:00 p.m. or have dinner in a neighboring community such as Virginia Highland, Midtown or Decatur.

On Saturday, head south to Historic College Park for the Woman's Club Kitchen and Garden Tour.  You will be amazed at the beautiful homes and gardens in this historic neighborhood.  Don't forget to have lunch at the Brake Pad - directly across from the Woman's Club.  If you aren't able to make it to the Druid Hills Home & Garden Tour on Friday, then head to College Park in the morning and head over to Druid HIlls in the afternoon.  The Dogwood Festival continues in Piedmont Park until 9:00 p.m. 

If you haven't made it to anything until Sunday, then you've got to make some decisions.  If you've been to Druid Hills and College Park, then it's time for the Midtown Tour of Homes.  Start early so that you can fit in the Dogwood Festival - open only until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening.  There's a chance of rain on Sunday, so dress accordingly and bring your umbrella. 

I hope this helps you plan a wonderful Spring weekend in Atlanta!  By the way, next weekend is the Inman Park Festival and Tour of Homes.

Midtown Tour of Homes

Discover Midtown living this weekend during the Midtown Tour of Homes.  This year's tour will feature 10 living spaces including single family homes, townhomes, condos and lofts.  On Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. there will be a tree walk through the neighborhood. 

Don't forget to check out the Atlanta Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park - YES, the Dogwood Festival is back at the park where it should be!

The Druid Hills Civic Association presents the 2009 Druid Hills Home and Garden Tour, The Palette of Druid Hills - The Homes, The Arts, The Gardens.  The tour will feature six homes, two gardens and the Little Chapel at Glenn Memorial.  There will be an Artist Market at St. John's Luthern Church and The Lullwater Garden Club will be hosting a native plants sale.  This is a wonderful opportunity to spend a day in Druid Hills and learn more about this community.

College Park Woman's Club Kitchen Tour

The College Park Woman's Club is hosting it's 2009 Kitchen Tour on Saturday, April 18, 2009.  The tour will feature some of Historic College Park's finest kitchens.  There will also be seminars on water conservation, cake decorating and food preparation.  Advance tickets are available online or at the Woman's Club on Main Street the day of the event.  Plan to spend the day in Historic College Park and have either lunch or dinner or both at two of my favorite restaurants, The Brake Pad and Fina.

Atlanta Symphony Associates 2009 Decorators' Show House & Gardens
